Most of the hail ranged in size from 2.75 to 3.0 inches throughout this area. Extensive damage was observed to the roofs and windows of homes and automobiles along the path of the supercell thunderstorm. This hail was caused by a different thunderstorm from the one that spawned the F3 tornado in northern Pike southeast of Hollenville earlier. The thunderstorm that caused the large hail in southwest and south central Pike county was a separate supercell thunderstorm moving east across the southern part of the county.

The Fulton County 911 Center relayed a report of quarter-sized hail from the Fairburn area. Hail fell for 10 to 15 minutes in the Fairburn area. Georgia Highway 92 was reported to have been covered with hail. The storm weakened as it moved northeast, but penny-sized hail was still observed by the public as it moved through the East Point area near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
