Hail initially caused minor damage to crops northwest of Anton, but more intense damage south of the city was noted by farmers quoted in newspaper articles, where up to seventy-five percent of the crops were heavily damaged. In addition, hailstones up to the size of golf balls reportedly broke windows at a Hockley County maintenance barn just south of Anton.
