National Weather Service description (English): At least a dozen reports of large hail were received from many parts of Gwinnett county. Golf ball-sized hail fell near Lawrenceville and in Snellville. Penny to nickel-sized hail was reported in Duluth and Grayson. National Weather Service description (English): Local Atlanta television stations relayed a report of golf ball-sized hail in the Dacula area. Several reports of penny-sized hail were received from the public in the Dacula area. The hail lasted several minutes at some locations. Radar data indicated that this was one of the strongest storms of the day and persisted in the same area for up to 30 minutes. Penny-sized hail was also reported just northwest of Lawrenceville, but this appeared to have been a different thunderstorm cell.
